Who doesn't love a scone? I for one do and my scone of choice will always be a plain scone with strawberry jam and lashings of clotted cream. However from making these goodies, chocolate chip scones are now up there with plain scones for me.
These chocolate chip scones are very sweet, a little crumbly to the bite and l challenge you to just eat one only.
My top tip would be to eat them warm for an extra sweet taste. The boys ate theirs with a little brush of Nutella on top.
The recipe is simple to follow and within 30 minutes you will have these baked treats ready to eat.
Let us know what you think.
Enjoy!.

Prep time: 10 Minutes Cook time: 12 Minutes Makes: 12 Scones
Ingredients
325g of Self raising flour
200g of Chocolate Chips
200ml of Milk
125g of Butter - cubed
100g of Caster sugar
2 tsp of Baking powder
Pinch of Salt
1 tsp of Vanilla extract
1 Egg - beaten
Equipment
Mixing bowl
Spatula
2 Baking trays
Greaseproof paper
Rolling pin
Scone cutter
Pastry brush
Method
Preheat the oven to 200C.
Line the baking tray with the greaseproof paper.
In the mixing bowl place the flour and butter, using your fingertips rub the ingredients together to form breadcrumbs. When the breadcrumbs begin to form add the baking powder, salt and caster sugar. Continue to use your fingers to rub all the ingredients together until they are combined.
Add the milk and vanilla extract to the flour mixture, and use the spatula to gently mix together.
Add the chocolate chips and using your hands begin to knead the dough together.
Sprinkle the work surface and rolling pin with flour and begin to roll out the dough to 5 cm thick.
Use the scone cutter and keep cutting them out until all the mixture is used up.
With the beaten egg and pastry brush, glaze each of the scones in egg before placing in the oven for 12 minutes.
Once baked leave the scones to cool on the baking trays.
Serve when required with chocolate spread for an extra sweet fix.
Enjoy!.
