Have you welcomed 2024 with open arms?

News Years Eve growing up was always a time of celebration, my mum hosting the annual house party with lots of food, drink and dancing.

I remember laughter and then the nearer it got to the clock striking 12, sadness would kind of take over.  My mum and aunties ushering everyone together to make a circle and hold hands and begin singing Auld Lang Syne and when they finished they would begin a rendition of you'll never walk alone.  (I had 7 aunties back then so you can imagine the cat's choir. ) This would be followed with hugs and kisses with tears being shared.

I never quite understood the emotion around new years eve then but as an adult of course l now do.

We say goodbye to the year we have lived, reflection of the happy and sad times and welcome the adventures, the journey that the new year brings, whether these are planned or what life will throw at us.

But l know there is always hope for the new year to be better than the last.

Do you make new year's resolutions?

I will be the first to admit that l make new years resolutions,  in an attempt to be a better version of my self. Have l kept any? Not on your nelly.  Tell a lie yes l have… be pescatarian.  Being a baker and food photographer, with so many goodies about l have never achieved the weight loss one.

Making New Years resolutions is an old aged tradition, people reflecting on their lives and look at how the new year, their future  could be better.  These maybe tiny little amendments, practices someone may incorporate into their life to big life changing resolutions. Whatever resolutions you make (if any) they are personal to you and all I would say is just be kind to yourself.  Ensure whatever you plan they are achievable, realistic and will make a difference to you in a good way.

I enjoy making new year's resolutions from the angle of reflection. I love them so much that l have 2 sets of resolutions.. one personal to me and one to my business. The personal one is easy it's all about my social, emotional and mental wellbeing whereas my business resolutions are about how l be the best for my clients in 2024.

Here are some resolutions l won’t be keeping……
