Are you sweet or savoury?

Today is waffle day, no i'm not talking about endless nonsense talking, but the celebration of the waffle treat.

Waffles are easy to make with a simple dough recipe to then toast on a waffle iron and enjoy with either a sweet or savoury topping.

It has taken me along time to make the perfect waffle using our waffle maker and l feel the pressure when I have 2 boys waiting for their waffles.

I have either opened the top to early and it doesn't rise and the mixture stays sloppy in the middle or l leave for to long and I have a crispy waffle that is just about edible but not soft in the middle.... the secret is to make the dough, place in the fridge for 5 mins before using and then leave to cook for 8 minutes. 8 seems to be my magic number for waffles.

So what would be your topping of choice? are you team savoury or team sweet? There are so many toppings to choose from to enjoy on your waffle.

Maybe you prefer the sweetness of ice cream, sauces and a little fruit ? or maybe something savoury like bacon and sauce?

Top pairings we recommend...

strawberries and cream

banana and caramel sauce

ice cream of your choice and sauce

Nutella and banana

avocado and poached egg

scrambled egg

bacon and tomato sauce
